Tune into any news channel on your screens these days and you will see various worlds leaders proclaiming (with or without factual backing) that their country is 'past the peak' of the Covid-19 outbreak.
New Zealand itself is thankfully reporting fewer and fewer cases each day and it seems to be just a matter of time before we exit the lockdown and gradually begin to work towards some semblance of normalcy.
But as this return to the norm comes nearer and we no doubt come closer to slipping back into tried and true routines, maybe we need to ask ourselves - what did we actually learn?
Less in terms of the technicalities of responding to a pandemic, but on a more personal level through the individual experiences we've each had over the past few months.
Will we treat people differently? What do we value most? Do we feel closer to or further away from our friends, neighbours and communities? Do we want to be?
I think I still need to take some time to reflect and understand how my view of the world around me has changed, because this experience will no doubt have lessons to impart.
What about you?
